Introduction

For 2019 we are really happy to create a new type of camp especially catered for girls with Sofi Chevalier as a coach and guide. Sharing her experience and passion on the water during an amazing week long adventure that you won’t forget centred around her home town of Lagos in the beautiful Algarve region of Portugal.

The Sista.zone Water Sports Experience Camp will give you the opportunity to try many different kinds of water sports as the area provides perfect conditions to surf, kite, SUP, wake and much much more.

The girls will be well taken care of as Sofi teams up with The Surf Experience who have 25 years of knowledge as the original surf and surf culture tour company in the Algarve and arguably Europe.

Kiteboarding

We are lucky enough to have an open lagoon that provides 3-4 hours a day of very flat water where Sofi will ride, support and coach the girls. The lagoon of Alvor is a beautiful spot where unspoiled nature and sunset sessions make for an unforgettable experience.

Surfing

Thanks to The Surf Experience the ladies will be taken to the best spots depending on ability, waves, wind and tide conditions. The Surf Experience explore this European surfing mecca to find the best waves for your level on any given day.

Wakeboarding

We are lucky enough to have a 2.0 two tower cable park right here in Lagos. It is a perfect option for beginners to get going or for girls who want to improve their board skills kiting or show us what they already know on a wakeboard.

An amazing experience is guaranteed in the afternoon sun sharing fun, smiles and the best sangria!

Yoga

As a very passionate yoga practitioner, Sofi will offer you regular yoga sessions on the beach where we will work on both our body and spiritual alignment and state of mind. More than just a simple relaxing session, Sofi will adapt the programme dependant on the days activities to make sure you are ready to make the most of every single day.

We have chosen accommodation to cover all budgets from sharing a room in our self catering Apartments or having your own single room in a luxury house.

The Self Catering Apartments are in the centre of Lagos close to small squares with cafes, bakeries, a mini market and just 10 minutes walk until your feet touch the sand.

The Spot

Alvor Lagoon

At the back of the long open sandy beach that is Meia Praia, there are rolling sand dunes that back on to a lagoon formed by the Alvor river.

You will have your flat water AND your space with the guarantee of daily thermic winds blowing down from the hills in the summer days until well after the sun goes down.

The wind ranges between 19-25 knots and blows for NW. The thermic winds kick in as the air heats upat the start of May until the end of September.

You will be able to use a range of your kites but mostly the mid and larger kites (9m-12m).

This will give you the chance to progress and ride with confidence and security rather than constantly flying by the seat of your pants. The spot is an unspoiled beautiful piece of nature where the sunset sessions are unforgettable. We are not going to say much more about the spot because the pictures and video really say it all.

The West Coast

There are too many spots for us to cover, but with some of the best breaks in Europe there is good reason why our little corner of Portugal has spawned such an inrush of surfers, kiters, and those seeking a better life away from mainstream Europe. You only have to google spots such as Amado, Zavial, Tonel and many more to understand what makes this part of the world so special for water sports enthusiasts.

Of course there are many more and some secret locations we would not dare to write down, but rest assured this is a place you will never forget.

Accommodation

The Self Catering Apartments are stunning and well located in the heart of the charming Portuguese city of Lagos where you will be close to small square with cafes, bakery, small mini market and also 10/15 min walk til your feet hits the sand.

With two town houses who both have twin rooms and a doubles plus two other twin rooms, we will be able to welcome a maximum of 10 ladies in total.

The apartments all have views of the small inner courtyard where we will have the pleasure of enjoying warm evenings together sharing food, booze, music, fun and smiles.

The property also has a plasma TV and a good WiFi connection. With two single rooms you have the option to book your own space if you would rather stay on your own instead of sharing. In that case we will charge you an extra 100€ for 7 days accommodation.

Flight Information

We understand that flights can have a huge impact on the cost of your camp so as always we recommend you book your flight AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Flights from Europe are with either TAP or low cost airlines companies such as EasyJet, RyanAir, Volotea or Transavia.

We estimate flights to cost from €200 – 400 at this period of the year..of course the sooner you book the better. We are more than happy to assist you in searching for flights or you can use the handy widget below.

Local Information

Portugal’s South West Coast

The south west coast of Portugal, from Lisbon to Sagres, is one of the most wildly beautiful stretches of coastline in Europe… and relatively un-discovered. Ranging from kilometers of white sand beaches to sea caves and hidden coves and tall rugged cliffs, this coast has a little bit of everything. The majority of the coastline is a protected natural reserve which restricts new construction and reserves the wild spacious feeling of this beach paradise.

Lagos

Lagos is a historic and lively city that is situated on the beautiful Western Algarve coastline. It’s known for its walled old town, cliffs and Atlantic beaches. Steep wooden steps lead to the sandy cove of Praia do Camilo. The nearby cliffs of Ponta de Piedade offer sweeping headland views and a lighthouse. Igreja de Santo António, an ornate 18th-century church, sits across from the Castelo dos Governadores, a castle with a baroque facade and watchtowers.
As a holiday destination, Lagos offers visitors glorious beaches, buzzing nightlife and a charming historic centre, which has retained its traditional character and charm. Coming to lagos is such an amazing Portuguese experience you will never forget!
