Introduction

For 2016 we are introducing 2 completely new camps and locations in Brazil. We are running aBig Air kite camp in Prea and a Flat Water kite camp in Parajuru. We have listened to what you most want from your kite camp and have put together 2 awesome packages to give you the experience if a lifetime with us.

The Big Air camp in Prea has been carefully chosen to provide you with the optimum conditions to learn to jump high and maintain calm and control in the air. We all dream of jumping high when we learn to kiteboard but soon realise that it is not always as easy as we think to get all of the aspects right.

The spot we have chosen is perfect for jumping. It has constant strong winds allowing you to use smaller kites and the accommodation is right on the spot allowing you to do shorter focussed sessions with great facilities to relax and recover afterwards.

The spot is also a buggy ride away from the legendary town of Jericoacoara (Jeri) where we will go for some nights out and downwinders.

Booking Info & Reservations

The Spot

Prea is one of the most consistently windy places on the planet at this time of year. The spot has a small today range and a constant cross-shore wind of 25-35 knots with kickers constantly available.

It can be challenging at first and is sure to wake some muscles that you might not have used in a while. It is not the best spot to be learning new un-hooked freestyle moves, but for jumping high and going downwind it is a kiters heaven.

You will be on small kites pretty much all the time between 7m (for the very lighter riders) to 9m (for the heavier riders). If you do however own a 5m or 6m …bring it, you will get a chance to use it if you wish.

The other attraction here as well as the jumping are the downwinders which can go on for as short or as long as you please and are filled with breaking waves for km after km allowing you to jump or surf depending on your preference.

  • best wind consistancy of north east brazil
  • average annual windspeed of aprox 26 knots the entire season from June to February
  • wind direction from south east to east – side onshoreto slightly side onshore
  • small to medium windwaves at low to medium tide
  • wind waves up to aprox. 2m at high tide
  • shorebreak with closeout waves only at high tide in combination with full moon
  • extensive shallow beach area
  • kilometers of spacious beach without obstacles
  • proximity to various lagoons and other kitespots
  • famous evening downwind to Jericoacoara

Accommodation

For this camp we will be staying at Vila Bela Vista which is the home of the Female World Junior Champion Mikaili Sol (so if you think the conditions are tough, the site of an 11 year old girl and her 9 year old brother out at the same time is sure to give you a motivational kick).

The accommodation is right on the beach and absolutely superb. It was the surprise jewel in our Brazil trip last year and comes equipped with all the comforts you could wish for, big rooms, air con, optional luxury bungalowes, a large swimming pool, massages, the caipirinha’s we have tasted in Brazil (no kidding, we tasted a lot).

If that was not enough they also have great off the water training facilities such as a trampoline, multiple suspended kite bars, climbing wall! and more.

To add to that the food is of the highest quality and the family run pousada will do all in their powers to give you the best of everything you want during your stay.

Local Information

BRAZIL

Brazil has a reciprocal visa system, so if your home country requires Brazilian nationals to secure a visa, then you will need one to enter Brazil. At the time of writing, American, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand citizens need visas, but citizens of the UK, France, Ireland and most other EU countries as well as South Africa do not. Check with the Brazilian embassy or consulate in your home country.

If you are unsure please let us know and we will research on your behalf.

There are also no specific vaccination requirements, however like all tropical destinations we would recommend you bring with you some form of mosquito repellant and if you are particularly sensitive to mosquito bites, so light longer trousers for the evenings.

Brazil’s currency is the real (often written R$); the plural is reais. One real is made up of 100 centavos.
1R$ is equivalent to approximately 0.35€/$0.45US / £0.30.

We recommend changing your money BEFORE travelling as this allows you to do so in the security of your own country with no stress or uncompetitive rates of having to do so at arrival in the airport. We also recommend taking smaller sized bills and not keeping all of your money in one place in your bags.

PREA

Préa is a small, original fishing village and is known as one of the best and most windy places to kitesurf. The quiet and tranquil place provides the perfect environment to fully relax and enjoy unforgettable moments both on and off the water.
